Wedding Day | The Amundson's
City: Bishop, CA
Photographed & Edited By Black Rider Studios
We got a taste of what we want to do. Traveling. For me, it was the second time doing weddings outside of our usual areas of southern California. But this time, it was different because the first time around. It wasn't in the plans. I was young and green. I still didn't know what I wanted out of life. I wasn't even sure I wanted to be a professional photographer. I just enjoyed doing photography. So when I photographed The Castaneda's wedding back in the day, I didn't know that this was going to be my so-call calling.
5 years later...
Black Rider Studios was created and one of it's objectives was to travel and get to know people and, of course, photograph. But this was a challenge for us because pricing destination weddings or traveling weddings is not an easy task. It becomes very expensive. You have to keep in mind the cost of living in other places, cities, states, and countries. We had to learn the lesson the hard way. We had had four weddings that we lost because it simply was too much for them. We are talking about weddings like in Cabo San Lucas, Georgia and Texas. It was heartbreaking to get excited for those weddings only to end up not happening. So we changed our pricing and took the advice of Merika Green, a friend and photographer from James Green Studios, who advised us to "massively cut costs." For these type of weddings.
So we did.
We got a break with these traveling weddings when we got a message on Instagram from Samantha who had seen our work and wanted to hire us. We gave her a quote which was lower than we usually charge and added traveling fees. They were impressed by the price so they signed us. Our first traveling wedding as Black Rider Studios! We were excited for the opportunity. Specially after we heard from so many people that Bishop was very beautiful.
We were shocked at the beautiful scenery we would be surrounded by.
We were greeted by Brett at the hotel we were staying at. He is a very awesome, adventurous type of person. I don't know if he who was more excited?! Maybe we were just excited for different reasons. Nevertheless, we were in awe about this town surrounded by awesome people, beautiful sceneries and the little-holes in the wall which served delicious food. This is exactly what we wanted to experience.
At the rehearsal, we got to meet Samantha and you could tell why he held Brett's heart. Adventurous as he is, they complimented each other and you could feel and see the love that they had for each other. My level of excitement rose and I knew that this was going to be a perfect beautiful wedding. This is why I am excited to show this blog to you. Enjoy the moments captured and the art.
